Angus Vincent

Angus Vincent graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Adelaide and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy in 1996 from the University of South Australia.
Angus is the Director of Performance Physio Group at Pimlico, Currajong, Magnetic Island, Townsville City, Ayr and Ingham (formerly SportsMed Angus Vincent and Associates).
Under Angus’ directorship, all physiotherapists at Performance Physio Group are committed to an “outcome and results focus” for patient treatments and plans. The multi-disciplinary team focus on “hands-on” therapy and an active approach to rehabilitation. These are things Angus is dedicated to encouraging with the team and patients.
Angus has a keen interest in all sports and actively participates in triathlons, trail running, road running and ocean swimming. Angus has been professionally involved with many sporting teams (local and international) over his 30 year career. Angus has been involved as a team physiotherapist for the Townsville Blackhawks, Brothers Rugby League, Brolgas Rugby Union, GESA soccer academy and DanceNorth.
When Angus is not driving his 3 children around the region to their chosen sports, he loves to have his feet up on Magnetic Island with his wife and family. He has a strong passion for racehorse racing, although he has not owned too many successful racehorses. The dream of owning a small share in a Winx like horse continues.

Tamara Purcell (nee. Hillier)

Tamara graduated with the first cohort of physio students through James Cook University in 2008 and immediately began working with Performance Physio Group.
In the early years she was the Senior Physiotherapist at the Mater Hospital in Townsville and continues to work there part time as their Senior Women’s Health Physiotherapist. Here she covers the Women’s Unit, treating primarily patients following gynaecological surgeries and post childbirth. Her initial Women’s Health training was completed in 2010 through the Women’s Health Training Association (Sydney). Tamara enjoys working in this area of physiotherapy, as it can be very rewarding to assist with problems such as incontinence, ante and post natal issues, sexual problems, pelvic pain, bladder disorders and prolapse. Tamara has also done further training to assist with Men’s Pelvic Health conditions such as incontinence following prostate surgery.
Tamara has a keen interest in Oncology care and Lymphoedema. Her desire to better serve this patient group, led to the establishment of The Restore Clinic (part of Performance Physio Group). This clinic helps with monitoring for lymphoedema, treatment should clinical lymphoedema develop and lipoedema management.
Tamara also handles the care of many of our paediatric patients. She has completed further training through APA courses and as a mother herself understands the importance of early intervention and the potential challenges in this cohort of patients.
In the past Tamara has also assisted at JCU with tutoring the 2nd and 3rd year cardiorespiratory subjects. She was also the primary educator for 3rd and 4th year students at the Mater Hospital for 6 years. She finds the teaching aspect very rewarding seeing the growth in students over time.

Paul Young

Graduating from James Cook University in 2013, Paul has over a decade of experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, with a strong focus on evidence-based practice. He has a particular interest in sports injury management, orthopaedic rehabilitation, and osteoarthritis care.
Paul has completed the APA Level 2 Sports Physiotherapy course and has worked closely with local sporting organisations, including the Townsville Blackhawks and Brother’s Rugby Union. He is passionate about helping athletes of all levels return to performance safely and confidently.
Outside of the clinic, Paul enjoys spending quality time with his young family and keeping active through running. He is committed to delivering high-quality, personalised care to help his patients achieve their goals and improve their overall function.

Alex Beere

Alex is a Townsville local who graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from James Cook University in 2011. He initially began working at Performance Physio Group in 2012, Alex has accumulated over 12 years of musculoskeletal physiotherapy experience since then. During that time, Alex worked in our private clinic as well as the Mater hospital, and he was also able to complete some work with different sporting teams, including the North Ward Rugby Union Club, Rebels Football Club and Australia Stockmans Rugby team.
In 2019, Alex moved to the UK with his wife, Angela, to live and work in London with different locum contracts. These included some time at Crystal Palace Physiotherapy, Guys and St. Thomas’ Hospital and with ReCentre Healthcare. In 2020, Alex moved back to Townsville and has been working at Performance Physio Group ever since. He has completed his APA Sports Level 1 and 2 Physiotherapy courses, dry needling, and Mulligans and McKenzie mobilisations courses as well. He has a special interest in sports rehabilitation and chronic injuries, with a focus on functional outcomes and return to sports.
He also works part-time at James Cook University as a Physiotherapy Clinical Educator, to assist the students with working towards Physiotherapy degree.
Outside of work, Alex enjoys playing soccer, watching cricket and rugby league and playing the guitar.

Mathew Mee

Mathew graduated from James Cook University in 2013 and has over a decade of experience. During Mathew’s career, he has worked primarily in private practice, however, has also worked in a hospital and in nursing homes. He has a special interest in treating patients with vertigo and vestibular rehabilitation.
Mathew has completed the Level 2 Sports Physiotherapy course with the APA and has extensive experience in sports injury management. He has worked as team physiotherapist for multiple local rugby union and soccer clubs, providing injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation for athletes at all levels.
Outside of work, Mathew enjoys long distance running and organises a community run club.

Brooke Williams

Brooke is a New Zealand qualified Physiotherapist who graduated in 2007 from Auckland University of Technology.
Brooke has worked primarily in private practice dealing a lot with sports teams (rugby union, rugby league, NZ tag and netball) but has also spent several years in a Hospital setting in triage, general medical, elective orthopaedic and older adult’s rehabilitation wards.
In her spare time Brooke plays netball for the Samoan National netball team, competing at World Cup level. She is also a member of the Inaugural Northern Rays netball team in the Sapphire series and plays locally for the Highlanders Netball club.

Hidemi Urano

Hidemi graduated from Australian Catholic University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy.
Hidemi is working in between Townsville and Magnetic Island and has a keen interest in musculoskeletal rehabilitation in the general population, injury prevention and healthy aging.
Outside of work Hidemi has a keen interest in many physical activities including skiing, yacht racing, soccer, dancing, swimming, acrobatics and scuba diving. Hidemi lives by the motto: We are never too old to learn new skills!

Chris Stanger

Chris is a Townsville local who graduated from James Cook University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy. Chris joined the Performance Physio Group team in 2020 after working in a sports focused private practice in Cairns.
Chris has experience working with national, state and local level sports teams in Rugby League, Basketball, Football, Cricket and AFL. In particular working with the Northern Pride RLC, Cairns Taipans and Cairns FC. He has further training in sports Physiotherapy (APA level one and two), dry needling and strength and conditioning coaching (ASCA level one).
Chris has a keen interest in treating sporting injuries, orthopaedic rehabilitation and workplace injuries. He places a strong emphasis on a combination of hands on therapy, patient education and exercise prescription.
Chris works full time out of our Townsville City Clinic and Currajong clinic inside Townsville Family Medical Centre. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and is a keen Cricketer playing in the local competition.

Courtney Franks

Courtney graduated from Charles Sturt University in Albury in 2020 before moving to Townsville.
Courtney has experience in musculoskeletal physio, lymphoedema, lipoedema and womens pelvic health physiotherapy. Courtney has a keen interest in lymphoedema and lipoedema physiotherapy and enjoys working within the cancer rehabilitation space. Courtney is currently completing a Graduate Certificate in Lymphoedema through Macquarie University and a Masters in Public Health & Health Research.
Outside of work Courtney enjoys golf, pilates, baking and reading.

Nicole Sorbello

Nicole is a North Queensland local who graduated from James Cook University in 2011. With years of experience and a genuine passion for helping others, she brings energy, dedication, and warmth to her role at Performance Physio Group. She’s also proud to be part of the team building the sister company of PPG: The Restore Clinic.
Throughout her career, Nicole has worked extensively in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. She has treated patients across a variety of settings—including hospital wards, home visits, and community rehabilitation services and in clinic, allowing her to gain experience in supporting people at every stage of their recovery journey. Early in her career, Nicole discovered an interest in Lymphoedema and Oncology care, becoming a Level 1 Lymphoedema accredited practitioner. More recently, she has pursued advanced training in this area, including advanced training in lymphoedema treatment for the head and neck. After becoming a mum, Nicole’s passion for women’s health grew. She has completed further studies in women’s pelvic health, where she combines her clinical expertise with real-life understanding to help women feel strong, supported, and empowered.
Outside of work, Nicole is a busy mum to two young boys who keep her on her toes! She loves spending her weekends running after them, embracing the chaos, and making the most of family time.

Lizzy is a decade into her profession as a physiotherapist with a passion for holistic health. Lizzy has a special interest in pain management, headaches, running-related injuries, and the integration of Pilates and yoga into rehabilitation. Her interests also extend to women’s and pelvic health as well as lymphoedema management.
Outside of the clinic, Lizzy is an avid runner, enjoys immersing herself in a good book and discussing these at Book Club, and finds balance through yoga. A lover of coffee, the outdoors, and travel, she is always seeking new adventures and understands you and your body wants to have the quality of life that allows you to delve into all aspects of your life also.
Whether treating a patient or exploring new hobbies, Lizzy is committed to enhancing both physical and mental well-being.

Mitchell Clarke

Mitchell graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from James Cook University in 2022. His interest areas revolve around sports as that is what got him into physiotherapy to begin with. He has experience in working with local Rugby League, Union, football, hockey and various junior sports. Mitchell has worked with Townsville Brothers RL, North Ward Old Boys RU and S&C coaching with the RISE Development Program.
In-clinic he sees a variety of presentations including acute musculoskeletal injuries, orthopaedic rehab and neurological conditions. When Mitchell is not at work he enjoys going to the gym (grabbing a coffee after), attempting to learn golf and spending time with his dogs.

Jared Evans

Jared is a Townsville-born physiotherapist who graduated from JCU in 2022. He has a strong interest in orthopaedic rehabilitation, sports physiotherapy, neurological and geriatric rehabilitation, helping patients regain function and achieve their movement goals.
His postgraduate qualifications include Sports Physiotherapy Level 2 (APA), Strength and Conditioning Level 1 (ASCA), and dry needling, equipping him with a well-rounded skill set for injury recovery, performance enhancement, and pain management. He has also worked with Brothers League Club and the National Masters Cricket Competition, gaining valuable experience in sports injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Jared has proven he is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care tailored to each individual. Whether assisting post-surgical recovery, improving mobility, or supporting athletes in their return to sport, he strives to provide effective treatment and guidance to help patients move and feel their best.

Hassan Malick

Hassan is a Charters Towers local and a passionate new graduate physiotherapist, having recently completed his degree at James Cook University in Townsville. In his first year of practice, he has enjoyed working with a wide range of conditions, from chronic pain and neurological impairments to sporting injuries. In every session, Hassan strives to tailor treatments to each individual’s goals and lifestyle.
His interest in physiotherapy was sparked by a lifelong love of sports, including rugby union, cricket, and athletics. During his studies, he gained valuable experience as a sports trainer and as a coach, working with athletes across rugby union, AFL, touch football and other sports. He also received the JCU Spirit of Sport award whilst leading his side to victory in the in the 2022 Season of JCU Inter-faculty Sport.
Outside of work, Hassan stays active as a player for the Charters Towers Bulls. He also enjoys exploring different cuisines, staying active through gym, and catching up with friends.

Jacob Spiteri

Jacob is a graduate physiotherapist after completing his Bachelor of Physiotherapy at James Cook University in Townsville in 2024. Originally from Innisfail and raised on a farm, Jacob developed a strong work ethic and practical mindset which he brings into his physiotherapy practice.
He has a particular interest in treating the general population within the musculoskeletal setting, with a focus on post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation and sports injury management. Jacob’s passion for physiotherapy grew from his own experience playing rugby league and recovering from sports-related injuries.
Outside of work, Jacob enjoys training in the gym, camping, 4WD adventures, and watching the footy. He is eager to further his skillset through ongoing professional development, with plans to complete ASCA Level 1 in Strength and Conditioning and APA Sports Physiotherapy Level 1.

Luka Pearson

Luka graduated from James Cook University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy. Originally from Yeppoon, a coastal town in Central Queensland, Luka’s passion for physiotherapy was sparked during his youth, as he often found himself rehabilitating sports injuries from playing rugby league, soccer, and touch football. His first-hand experiences with injury recovery gave him a deep appreciation for the impact physiotherapy can have on an individual’s well-being and performance.
Outside of work, Luka enjoys staying active, regularly attending the gym to maintain his fitness, and walking his energetic kelpie, Nora. Luka has completed additional training with his Sports Trainer Level 1 and Dry Needling Course, further expanding his skill set. Luka’s clinical interests include treating sporting injuries, post-operative management, and rehabilitation of chronic pain conditions, helping patients regain movement and improve their quality of life.

Mitchell Seri

Mitchell is a born and bred Ingham local who joined Performance Physio Group (formally SportsMed), in January 2009 after graduating from JCU with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2008. He started working in Ingham part time in April 2009 and is now practicing full time in Ingham. Mitchell is one of the co-owner/director of Performance Physio Group Ingham along with Angus Vincent.
Mitchell has a keen interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and has achieved success in a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders. Mitchell applies a combination of hands on manual therapy, dry needling, electrotherapy and an active approach to rehabilitation with individualised exercise programs to obtain optimum results.
Mitchell is an approachable, friendly, family man with an active presence in the community and looks forward to delivering quality physiotherapy services to the Ingham community.

Sonya Bell

With over a decade of experience and a passion for helping others move and feel better, Sonya is proud to offer expert physiotherapy care to the Ingham community. A University of Queensland graduate (Class of 2010), Sonya relocated to Ingham with her family in 2020 and has since embraced the town as home.
Her diverse clinical background spans private practice and both small and major regional hospitals, equipping her with a broad range of expertise. Sonya provides care across musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory, post-operative and post-injury rehabilitation, return-to-work programs, gerontology, ergonomic assessments, and women’s health.

Caitlin Holmes

Caitlin graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2022. Born and raised in the Burdekin. You can find Caitlin working in Ayr.
Caitlin has a keen interest in working with children and wishes to broaden her knowledge and expand the services available for this demographic. She is also interested in sports, having previously done sports training and currently plays Rugby Union for the Burdekin ladies team.
